Did you know your skin is a reflection of how you treat your
body from within? So, if you’re drinking an excess amount of caffeine and
alcohol, smoking and eating ‘junk’ on the regular, you can expect to have pimple-prone,
rough looking skin. How good does that
sound?!
But, if you drink 2-3 litres of water per day, have a diet consisting of veggies, fruits, protein and fats and you
remember to remove your makeup every single
day (no excuses!) then you can expect glowing, radiant and smooth looking
skin. Yes please!
Despite the fact that I work in the beauty industry, my
actual skincare routine is pretty simple.
I use coconut oil to remove my make and lather up all over
my body. Then, I use the natural skincare product, the
Fruit Enzyme Exfoliator from Jurlique to help buff away the dead skin cells
and promote healthy and fresh gazing skin. And to finish off, I moisture my
skin with Decleor Paris
light moisturising cream which has been making my skin feel well hydrated
throughout these colder months and superrrr smooth.
See that- three things only! And as much as I would love to
try everything I see, I know that not every product is going to work well with
my skin.
So, to this conclusion you may think well darn, Do I have to
buy what you use Vanessa to have model-like skin?! (Kidding, I do not have Miranda Kerr skin..)
The answer is nope! So, you’re thinking well why are you
writing this? Because.
Just like I have mentioned in my previous , how we look and
feel really does come down to what we consume, and when you feed your body
good, nutritious foods, you’re literally feeding your skin good, nutritious
foods!
Let me break it down for you
If you want glowing
skin: Carrots and Avocado
Cut up carrot sticks, sprinkle some salt & pepper, mush
up your avocado and BAM, amazing combo for glowing skin! And, super quick &
health snack!
Carrots are full of vitamins and are high in beta-carotene,
which basically means that together, they help too repair the skin and protect
against premature aging.
Avocados are to made up of
vitamins such as vitamin C and vitamin E, which reduce inflammation and
naturally hydrate the skin.
If you want youthful
looking skin: Spinach and Pumpkin
Seeds
Mix up some spinach leaves, cooked or raw, and toss in some
lemon, pumpkin seeds and a source of protein and wallah! You have created the
ultimate lunch to help with aging and wrinkles!
Spinach is so darn good for you-I mean who hasn’t tried a
green smoothie, jam packed with spinach? Yeah, it doesn’t look too appealing
(actually it looks pretty foul), but boy oh boy does it do wonders for your
skin.
It is one of the most powerful greens you can ever eat. How
you say? Well, it’s an anti-oxidant powerhouse, which means it helps to delay
the aging process and minimise wrinkles and protect your skin cells. Winning!
Pumpkin seeds are little miracle seeds if you think about
it. They’re a super-food loaded with zinc minerals, which helps to promote skin
renewal, maintain collagen (think juicy and plump!) and protects your cell membranes.
How sweet.
If you want
blemish-free skin: Broccoli and
Blueberries
Cleary not to be eating together because I am sure that
wouldn’t go down too good.. But if you suffer from breakouts here and there, or
(the worst of the worst) acne, then you need to be adding these babies into
your diet.
Broccoli is amazing. If you don’t like the green tree, learn
too. Because it is full of every vitamin under the sun (A, B, C, E and K) which
means it works super fast in fading away those scars and promoting radiant and
life full skin.
Blueberries, and well all those other berries, are made up
of amazing anti-oxidants, which can assist in smoothing out your skins
complexion and texture, and minimise the appearance of pimples. Go on, toss’em in your smoothie, and add some
almond milk, coconut yoghurt and seeds for the ultimate face food.
So you see, you don’t really need to invest in the expensive
French, exclusive skincare products, unless of course you hate vegetables and
fruits because by all means go for it.
Think: If you eat crap you will look like crap on the
outside too. Sorry, but it is true.
If I have had a weekend of chocolate and take-out food,
chances are my skin is going to be looking a little on the gross side.
So pop in a few of these bad boys next time you’re shopping
and note down the little changes you see once you start using them on a regular
basis.
Kiss kiss xx Vanessa
